Dr. Nida
Blankas-Hernaez

Dr. Nida Blankas Hernaez is a board certified pediatrician with over 30 years in private practice, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has had extensive experience in caring for premature and neonatal cases. Her medical interests include asthma/allergy, ADD/ADHD general pediatrics and adolescent medicine. She believes that “Every child deserves the best quality of care regardless of their background. And every parent has the right to know every option available for his/her child's care. In making decisions, parent-patient-physician partnership is a vital factor in every aspect of care from birth to adolescence.”  Dr. Blankas-Hernaez was president of the Philippine Medical Association in Chicago and the Far Eastern University Medical Alumni Association of Northern Illinois. She worked rigorously to participate in charities such as the Typhoon Haiyan Relief at the Rizal center in Chicago as well as in the landslides of 2011 and 2012 that were also in the Philippines. While taking part in these activities, as a doctor at Golf Mill Medical Center, she does her best to teach medical students how to be better doctors in their Pediatric rotations. Her internship and residency training were completed at UIC. She is part of the Medical Staff at Lutheran General Hospital, Lurie's Children Hospital and Norwegian Hospital. She is also a part of Northwestern Feinberg Medical Center faculties.

Dr. Edward Hernaez

Dr. Edward Hernaez is board certified in Family Medicine and a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). He received his Bachelor Degree from the University of the East, Manila, Philippines. Followed by post-graduate internship at Perpetual Help Hospital and Medical center, Manila, Philippines. He did his 6 months rural practicum in Santiago, Ilocos Sur and passed his Philippine Medical Board Exam and, thereafter, joined his family here in Chicago. He had his internship in Family Medicine at Southern Illinois University, College of Medicine and finished his Family Medicine Residency in the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has been a Family practitioner in Chicago for more than 17 years. He has been a medical staff at Thorek Hospital and Medical Center and has worked at different Medical Centers in Chicago area. He is presently on medical staff at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and Associate Assistant Clinical Professor at University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Family Medicine . His interests include cardiology, hypertension, diabetes, psychiatry, pediatrics/adolescent, obesity, geriatrics, gynecology, and preventive medicine. He was awarded several plaques and trophies for his outstanding job as a physician and his works as presidents of different organizations including his medical missions and philanthropic works.​
